Part two of “staying up to date” got slightly delayed, but worth the wait. As announced previously, we are going to give more detail about SAMBA that finally reached Beta status!
We believe that Chat-Center are among the most important tools for communication, nowadays. A lot of effort is being put into the development and testing of “Communicator”. Take a look at its change log listed in this news.
We also put stress on extending the media-tools. Development is almost completed and we will mention more detail about the extensions of
MediaFire, changes around the
mp3-codec and the development of
ogg.vorbis, in this issue.
Learn more about these topics and recent progress of magnussoft ZETA, your multimedia
operating
system.
Samba- Samba can access Windows-, Apple-, and Linux- resources
- Our internal version can already share data with NAS-Servers (streaming video and music)
- SAMBA is regarded „stable“ and was officially set to Beta
Chat Center / Communicator- Work at the preferences of IM has finished
- It’s possible to add and manage accounts
- More than one profile per protocol is finally possible
- Supported protocolls are:
GoogleTalk, Jabber, AIM, ICQ, Yahoo and MSN
MediaFire- It’s possible to create DVD video. At this time, only mpeg2 is available
- Multisession CDs are supported
- Mp3gain simplifies the creation of audio-cds (Volume levels get normalized)
mp3-Codecs- It’s possible to record mp3 with VBR-support (Variable Bit Rate) (As opposed to a constant rate, called CBR, VBR allows a higher bitrate to be allocated to more complex segments of media files, e.g. 256 KBPs, while less space is allocated to less complex segments). Of course you can set the margin.
ogg.vorbis- ogg.vorbis -encoder, -decoder und -extractor wurden eingebettet
(ogg.vorbis is a patent free, fully open and standardized multimedia format for videos, music, and more)
UAE – Emulator- UAE-Emulator was ported to magnussoft ZETA ( Soon you will be able to play several hundreds of classic Commodore Amiga games, like from our Classix-Collection, on magnussoft ZETA)
In a few months, some of you will certainly think about how you could have lived without these tools. That’s it for now. See you next week at issue #3 of “Styling up to date with ZETA”.
